A funny courtesy of Jared

Sung to the tune of "Rock You" by Queen (gotta love old movies)

"Got mud on my face, such a big nisgrace, wearing a bear all over the place, singing we will, we will rock you!"

He kept singing that over and over while he was getting ready for school this morning. We were rolling!

Spinning my wheels

Sorry, not much humor today. I have just been crazy busy. How is it that my days are full, I am hardly home, yet at the end of the day I feel further behind?!?

We are fighting with the school to get Jared the services that he needs. We are extremely frustrated and are calling in the troops. They even went as far as to schedule the IEP meeting when the OT wouldn't be at the school. OT is the make-or-break for Jared. I called the OT to talk with her about Jared. She was floored that they had schedule it for a time that they knew she wouldn't be there. I got a call yesterday from the school. They were changing the meeting time "because their OT wanted to be there". The OT will now be in attendance. Score one for Mom!

Max had a speech eval this morning. He was already having speech problems, but about 6 months ago he broke a tooth getting off the trampoline. He was even getting of the right way! The root was snapped. The dentist had no choice but to pull it. Since that happened, his speech has gotten worse. We can't even understand him anymore. He won't repeat when you ask him to. He just throws a fit. He tested at 2 years 10 months and he is 4 years 10 months :( He starts speech therapy next week. It should really help him. We're keeping our fingers crossed. I am just so glad I listened to my gut and called his Ped for a referral.

I survived John being gone for 5 days. To some, that is no big deal. To us it is torture. Neither of us sleeps well. For me, lack of sleep leads to impatience and frustration. Those are not a good thing when you are home by yourself with 5 kids. Bedtime is the worst. From about dinner time until whenever we can finally get the kids to bed is the witching hour at our house. When we are both here we divide and conquer. I didn't go to bed until at least midnight, but often 1 or 1:30 the whole time John was gone. I slept so good once he was back.

John is back in school after taking the summer off. He is taking 13 credits this semester! He is also taking our business in a different direction since the economy has killed the window cleaning business. He is doing appliance repair now. That is why he was gone for 5 days. He was down riding with his step-dad and getting training. He has been getting some calls, so we're praying this takes off.

See, told you it has been crazy ... my life, not me! :D

Things are a'changin'

It's not just the weather! Brrrrr! Still trying to get things just so here, so please be patient. It's kinda like when you move, you have to try things out, rearrange, and try them again until you find a layout that feels like home. It's just the same with a blog.

Getting started

As a mother to 5 beautiful, challenging, infuriating, wonderful kids, I decided that I needed a place to keep track of all the craziness. I plan to use this blog to do just that. I want to track the victories and defeats, the milestones and set-backs, plus all the humor and happiness that happens every day. All to often it seems to get lost in the blur that seems to be my life right now.

Katie just had surgery a week ago We are between therapies with Jared, and trying to hammer out his IEP with the school. We have a speech evaluation scheduled for Max and an appointment with an allergist scheduled for Emma. Somewhere in all that, we try to find time for ourselves, do homework with kids, run a business, fulfill our callings, and be parents. It is a juggling act to say the least.

It's crazy, but I love each of my kids and what they teach me.
